Recently, the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission announced the fourth batch of the 2025 Beijing First (Set) Major Technological Equipment Catalog at the China National Convention Center. The "SmartSoil—On-Site Rapid Detection System for Farmland Soil," independently developed by the Equipment Center, was successfully included in the catalog.

The certification of Beijing's First (Set) Major Technological Equipment is spearheaded by the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission. It focuses on breakthroughs in key core technologies in high-end equipment, accelerates the development and demonstration of major technological equipment, fosters new quality productive forces, and empowers the intelligent transformation and upgrading of industries. The successful inclusion of the "SmartSoil—On-Site Rapid Detection System for Farmland Soil" signifies that the product has received authoritative recognition for its technological innovation, system reliability, and application feasibility. Its core detection capabilities, system stability, and field application value have passed rigorous evaluation, establishing a solid foundation for large-scale demonstration and promotion in fields such as smart agriculture and farmland protection. This fully demonstrates the center's leading capabilities in the independent research, development, and commercialization of agricultural technological equipment.

As the world's first equipment capable of rapidly measuring major soil nutrients and heavy metals directly in the field, SmartSoil addresses the pain points of traditional soil testing, which involves "laboratory sampling—lengthy waiting—delayed results." Using laser spectroscopy as its technical approach, the product has overcome challenges related to the optical sensing mechanisms, characterization methods, and core technologies for different soil components, establishing an on-site rapid sensing method for multiple soil components. For the first time, it enables single-device, multi-channel, and high-throughput simultaneous measurement of over 30 parameters across three major categories: major soil nutrients, heavy metals, and trace elements. The measurement time has been reduced from several days using standard laboratory methods to under 10 minutes in the field, filling a domestic technological gap. Notably, the system is easy to operate, requires minimal chemical reagents and consumables during testing, and produces no secondary pollution. The technology has already been commercialized in regions such as Shaanxi, Anhui, and Inner Mongolia, supporting applications like modern agricultural industrial park construction and farmland quality surveys. SmartSoil provides a high-efficiency, low-cost solution for precision nutrient management in agriculture, offering a revolutionary tool for achieving true precision and variable-rate operations.
